Privacy Policy

Growing Godly exists to help you grow with God. The tools we build work because you trust us with information about your spiritual life. We do not take that lightly. The data you share with us reflects some of the most personal parts of who you are: your prayers, your habits, your struggles, and your walk with Jesus. We treat that as a sacred trust.
What we commit to you
We will never sell your personal information. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
We will never run third-party ads inside our apps, and we will never use your data to target you with ads for other companies' products.
Separately, and because we would rather say it plainly than bury it: we do sometimes tell you about other things Growing Godly makes, such as coaching, cohorts, and courses. Those are our own, they come by email or in-app message rather than by advertising, and you can turn them off in your settings at any time.
We will never share your identifiable spiritual formation data with anyone without your clear consent. If your church or a coach can see your information, it is because you said yes first, and you can change your mind at any time.
We do not train AI models on your identifiable spiritual formation data. We use AI to make these tools genuinely useful, and we explain exactly how below. If that ever changes, we will tell you before it does and ask your permission, and declining will not cost you access to what you already use.
We never report on a group so small that removing your name would not actually hide you. We learn from patterns across our community, but we remove what identifies you first, and we will not hand a church or coach a report drawn from fewer than 25 people.
If you ever have a question this policy does not answer, ask us. We would rather over-explain than have you wonder.
Who we are and what this covers
This policy is issued by Growing Godly, LLC, doing business as Growing Godly, based in Oregon, United States. It covers everything we make: the Imago formation app, our Bible memorization app, growgodly.com, the School of Biblical Apprenticeship platforms, and our courses, assessments, and email.
Some of our apps publish an app-specific supplement describing exactly what that one app collects and what it does not. Where a supplement is more specific than this policy, the supplement governs for that app, and everything here still applies.

What we collect, and why
Account information. A name and a valid email address or phone number, to create your account, authenticate you, and reach you about your account.
Spiritual formation data. Assessment responses, instrument results, prayer entries, habit tracking, reading and memorization progress, notes, and reflections. This is the core of what the tools do, and it is collected only with your explicit consent, as described below.
Content you create and share. Posts, comments, shared verses, and group contributions, so you can create and share as you direct.
Payment information. Handled by our payment processors, such as Stripe and the app stores. We never receive or store your full card number.
Usage and device data. Pages viewed, features used, session length, device type, and approximate region, to keep things secure and working and to understand what helps. Some of our apps collect none of this until you make an account; where a supplement says so, that is the accurate description for that app.
We collect only what the feature you are using actually requires.
Sensitive spiritual formation data
Information reflecting your religious beliefs is sensitive personal data under Oregon law, several other state laws, and the laws of the European Union. It requires your explicit consent.
Before you use features that collect it, we ask for that consent plainly. If you decline, features that do not need it still work. You can withdraw consent at any time in your settings or by writing to us, and we will stop processing it and delete it on request.
Some instruments touch on wellbeing, rest, or emotional health. We treat that the same way. Our tools are not a medical or mental health service and are not a substitute for professional care.
We built these tools as ministers, not data merchants. We process your sensitive data only to serve you and to operate and improve what we make, never for third-party advertising or sale.
Artificial intelligence
AI is a core part of how our tools work, so we want to be direct about it.
What it does. It personalizes your formation pathway and recommendations, generates content within the tools such as reflections and practice suggestions, writes study commentary once for a passage of Scripture and shows it to everyone who opens that passage, helps us see how features are used, and supports moderation and safety.
Where it runs. On our servers, on your device, or through third-party AI providers working on our behalf under confidentiality and data protection obligations. Where an app supplement names the provider and states exactly what is sent, that statement is the accurate one for that app.
How we improve it. We use aggregated, de-identified information about how AI features perform, including where the output was wrong, to make them better. We do not train AI models on your identifiable spiritual formation data, and we do not permit third-party AI providers to use your identifiable information to train their own general-purpose models.
Human oversight. AI does not replace human judgment. Any decision that would significantly affect you is subject to human review. AI-generated content is a tool for your growth, not a substitute for Scripture, your church, or pastoral care.
What we learn from the whole community
We may combine information across many people to understand how spiritual habits develop, or to give a church a picture of its community. Before we do, we remove what identifies you.
We will not provide any church, ministry, cohort, coach, or partner with a report drawn from fewer than 25 people, or report on a subgroup smaller than 25. Below that number, aggregation does not actually protect anyone: a leader who knows the group can often infer whose result is whose. Where a group is too small, we say so rather than produce the report.
We keep de-identified data de-identified, we do not try to re-identify it, and we do not present results in a way designed to let a recipient infer an individual's data.
Coaches, churches, and groups
By default your formation data is private to you. If a coach, pastor, church administrator, or group leader can see any of it, we tell you exactly what they will see before you connect, and it becomes visible only after you say yes.
You can change or revoke that at any time in your settings. Revoking stops their access going forward. We cannot retrieve what they already viewed or exported while they had access, so grant it thoughtfully.
How we disclose information
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with advertisers. We disclose it only with your consent or at your direction; to service providers such as hosting, databases, payment processing, email delivery, analytics, and AI processing, who may use it only to perform services for us; across our own products to give you one experience; when required by law or legal process, or where we believe in good faith it is necessary to protect people; and in a merger or sale of assets, where we will require any successor to honor commitments materially consistent with this policy or obtain your fresh consent.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access your information, correct it, delete it, receive it in a portable format, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, and opt out of marketing. Account and security notices cannot be opted out of.
Use your account settings or write to [email protected]. If you are making a request under a specific law, put your state or country in the subject line. We verify identity before fulfilling requests, respond within the time the law requires, and will not discriminate against you for asking.
If you are in Oregon or another state with a comprehensive privacy law, you may appeal a decision we make and contact your state Attorney General. If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, our lawful bases are your consent, performance of our contract with you, and our legitimate interests in operating and improving the tools, and you may lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
How long we keep it
As long as your account is active and as needed to run the tools. If you delete your account we delete the personal information associated with it within 30 days, except where we must keep something to meet a legal obligation, resolve a dispute, prevent fraud, or finish a request you made. Backup copies may persist briefly before being purged. De-identified data, which does not identify you, may be kept indefinitely.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and monitoring, hosted with providers maintaining recognized security certifications.
No system is perfectly secure. We cannot promise your information will never be reached through a breach, but we will notify you as the law requires if one affecting your information occurs. Keep your login credentials confidential and your devices secure.
Children
Our tools are not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If we learn that we have, we delete it. If you believe a child has provided us information, write to [email protected].
Where a church, school, or family uses our tools with minors between 13 and 18, the organization is responsible for any parental permission its own policies or local law require.
Users outside the United States
We are based in Oregon. If you use our tools from outside the United States, your information is transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those where you live. Where required we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as contractual commitments, for those transfers.
Changes to this policy
As we build, our practices will evolve and this policy will change with them. When we make material changes we will notify you in the tools or by email and, where the law requires it, ask for your renewed consent, particularly for any material change in how we handle sensitive spiritual data.
